NESLIHAN UYSAL ILLUSTRATION

ABOUT ME

I am a fourth year illustration student. I like working with mixed media combining; printing techniques, Photoshop and bold lines created using fine liners and marker pens. I tend to work in layers, scanning and editing as I go. I feel that this gives my work a more collage-like feel to it. In terms of printing techniques, my preferred methods are Linoprinting and Ebru, although, I have recently started experimenting a little more with Screenprinting as well. Ebru is a traditional Turkish form of printing that is very similar to marbling that originated in the 13th century. I am half Turkish and I like using this method as it helps me connect to the culture a little more. I am interested in pursuing a career in either the streetwear or tattoo industry, ideally both. I use my illustrations to create tattoo and fashion designs and I often like combining the two together. I also up-cycle clothing that I buy from charity shops by painting and printing on them. In terms of my tattoo designs I am in the process of figuring out how to tattoo Ebru. A lot of my tattoo designs reflect this.
